Talk About It

What is Communion?

Ask:
  • How Do You Remember Your Friends?
  • Have you ever had a friend who moved away?
  • What are some things you’ve done to remember friends who have moved away?

There are people who are very special to us and we love remembering all the things we have done with them.

Talk About: Our Friend Jesus
Jesus is a friend like that. He wanted to be in a close friendship with you even before you knew that you could be His friend (John 3:16).
People were doing every kind of bad thing (sin) and this made a huge divide between people and God (Romans 3:23). There was no way for people to fix the problem. (Romans 6:23).
But God loves us more than we can imagine (Ephesians 2:4). He loves us so much that He went to extreme measures to fix our sin problem and to show us a path that leads to life with God.
So Jesus came to Earth to show us what God was like in a way we could understand (John 14:9). He came to tell us about God's love and to tell us to turn away from sin. He chose to fix our broken friendship (1 Thessalonians 5:10).
So now, when we see that forgiveness and admit our sin and invite Him to lead our lives, Jesus sticks with us (Romans 8:39). That is a friend we want to remember!
Communion
When we take communion someone reminds us of the words that Jesus said before He died, and then we all eat and drink together to remember the absolutely awesome thing Jesus did for us (Luke 22:14-20)
