January 17 Sermon Discussion

Making Jesus Central
Discussion Guide:

Reflect:
Describe a time when a big idea or crazy circumstance
that made you change your plans.
NOTE: COVID-19 doesn’t count ;-)

Relate:

Read Luke 19:1-10.

Who is Zacchaeus?

In your own words, describe Zacchaeus’s encounter with Jesus.

Pastor Jeremy said, “We must rework our understanding of
everything in life around Jesus as the new center!”

Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Why do you think that?

What are some fears of confusions you may have about
“reworking our lives” around a new center?

What was your central identity before you believed in Jesus?

How has that identity changed because of Jesus?

What do you think is the most difficult part of re-working your life around Jesus?

Respond:

Why is it important to understand that we are loved and accepted by Jesus?

If you were Zaccheaus, what practical things would you need
to do to re-center your life around Jesus?

What is keeping you from that reworking today?

Take a moment to pray about the changes you think you
need to make and the obstacles in your way.

Thank you for teaching from The Bible! Thank you for the reminder I need to daily put Jesus as the center of my life. I have struggled with the ugliness and hate brought on by people that I love because they are mistakenly putting their allegiance in the right or the left of politics...and not in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Thank you Jesus that you are in control, that you sacrificed everything for us, and that your blood covers all who accept you as Lord and Savior. We are all unworthy; but your Grace is here for ALL PEOPLE. Thank you.
